The International IP Strategists Association (INTIPSA) is a professional organisation owned and run by its members. At present it has a Board with eight members who are managing the set-up and launch of the association.
Jon is a co-founder and managing director of ClearViewIP Ltd, a leading IP consultancy which works closely with clients to understand and address their individual IP problems in order to help them to create an effective IP strategy. He co-founded ClearViewIP in 2007 to support clients through a broad range of services, firmly grounded on commercial pragmatism and extensive experience in running successful businesses.
Prior to this Jon held a number of international research & development and business leadership positions in data storage and networking industries. He has a BEng and a Master’s degree from Brunel University, regularly participates in UK-based IP initiatives, and presents to Licensing Executives Society, the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and other leading industry bodies.
Matt is a partner in the London office of HGF Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. His expertise covers the technical areas of physics, engineering, electronics and software. Matt works with many high-growth technology businesses, particularly in the UK innovation hubs of London, Cambridge and Southampton, helping companies develop effective intellectual property strategies and negotiating successfully during acquisition due diligence.
He is a member of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, a member of the Advisory Panel of Ideas21 – a not-for-profit organisation supporting British innovators – and a regular speaker on IP issues for business. In 2009, Matt was recognised by Intellectual Asset Management magazine as one of the world’s leading IP strategists. He is also a Visiting Fellow of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group of Imperial College Business School.
Ralph is the co-founder and managing partner of 3LP Advisors, LLC, a firm focused on IP strategy development, patent portfolio transactions and IP-based investments with offices in Boston (MA) and Palo Alto (CA). He works with companies to develop and implement IP strategies, acquire strategic IP assets and monetise intellectual property through patent sales. Prior to founding 3LP Advisors, he served as head of the Boston Consulting Group’s IP strategy practice, where he developed IP strategies for leading corporations in the technology, telecommunications, pharma/biotech, automotive, basic materials and industrial sectors. In addition, he has developed proprietary and patented tools for IP analysis and visualisation. Ralph has authored a number of papers and articles on intellectual property and is co-author of The Invisible Edge: Taking Your Strategy to the Next Level Using Intellectual Property.
Ben is a Partner in the London office of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge and has 20 years experience in advising companies on the management, commercialization and protection of their valuable IP. He works with clients in information and communications technology, biotechnology, food and drink, energy, and university technology transfer. Ben spent two years in Shanghai where he managed a law firm’s Asia business, and has internationally-recognized expertise in strategy development for IP assets in China.
Ben is a past president of the Licensing Executives Society of Great Britain and Ireland and is a member of the IP Committee of the China Britain Business Council and the editorial advisory board of Global IP Asset Management Report. Ben is listed in the IAM Licensing 250 and IAM Strategy 250 and is ranked in the UK guide for Chambers. Legal Business cited him as an expert in IP and IT in its “Legal Experts 2010”.
Ian is Chairman of the Intellectual Property Institute and was CEO of BTG plc – the world-leading technology commercialisation company – from 1985 until his retirement in late 2004. During that time he oversaw the privatisation of BTG in 1992, its public flotation in 1995, a demerger of part of its business and three Rights Issues amounting to about £250 million to raise business expansion capital.After a degree in Mechanical Sciences from Cambridge University, his early career was in the civil, aerospace and chemical industries. Ian holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and has undertaken a variety of roles with the World Bank. He has written many articles and book chapters, and lectures widely on global intellectual property and technology issues, particularly as they relate to business and strategy. He is currently involved with the development of intellectual property in China and the central role of IP in stimulating innovation.
Jackie is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Coller IP, which provides a full range of specialist Intellectual Property (IP) services. She works with a range of board room clients to help them determine where intangible assets are valuable in their business and in 2011 was voted into the top 250 Global IP Strategists for the third year running.A physicist and chartered engineer by background, Jackie has 18 years’ experience in technology transfer, commercialisation and consultancy. She has taken new services to market, launched businesses, and been responsible for the design and management of several multi-million pound collaborative government-industry-university programmes.
Donal is Managing Director of Chawton Innovation Services, a consultancy operating in the areas of innovation and intellectual property management. He graduated from NIHE Limerick (now The University of Limerick) in Ireland with a Degree in Electronic Engineering. He has had wide and varied experience in the telecoms industry, having worked for periods in The Netherlands, UK, USA, Finland, and Hong Kong. He was formerly a VP of R&D and a Director of IP at Nokia, leading the company’s Patent Creation team. During this time he was also responsible for third-party patent risk mitigation, IP agent network management, and IP processes, systems and tools. He has been a member of the Executive Board of the Eco Patent Commons initiative, as well as Chair of the CPA Global Memotech IUG. Donal has written one book called “Inside the Patent Factory”, and has another due out in 2011, on the subject of collaborative innovation and IP. He is an Adjunct Professor at Imperial College, London.
John is Managing Director Europe in ICAP Patent Brokerage’s London office, and heads up Europe for both the Private Brokerage and Live IP Auction platforms. ICAP Patent Brokerage is wholly owned by ICAP, a multi-billion dollar public company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Prior to joining ICAP, John was Vice President at CPA Global, where he was responsible for developing and executing programmes to help clients align their IP portfolios with their corporate strategies and to realise substantial economic benefits and returns on their IP investments. He also served as a Strategy Consultant at Accenture and Sales & Marketing Manager with Procter & Gamble. He has an extensive knowledge of IP strategy and a thorough understanding of how businesses can best manage their intellectual property. He has an MBA from Warwick Business School and a BSc (Hons) from Kings College, University of London.
Serena is an IP solicitor with years of experience in FTSE 100 and international businesses. She helps her clients to use IP to drive their business strategy, make efficient investment decisions and raise new equity and debt funds.
