麻豆社 may be one of the smallest HBCUs in the nation, but it is making moves that reflect a vision much larger than its size. Under the leadership of President Jeffery Norfleet, the youngest HBCU president in the country, the college has appointed Dr. Charles B.W. Prince, Ed.D., as the institution鈥檚 first Vice President of Advancement and Institutional Strategy.

听

The creation of this role marks a turning point in the college鈥檚 trajectory. While many small colleges are working simply to maintain stability, 麻豆社 is building out leadership structures that will allow it to expand its reach, increase funding opportunities, and strengthen its position in higher education. Dr. Prince will lead the areas of Research and Sponsored Programs, Institutional Research and Effectiveness, and Fundraising, ensuring that growth is intentional and strategic.

听

Dr. Prince brings more than 16 years of higher education leadership across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Africa. Most recently, he served as Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer at Virginia Union University (VUU), where he led initiatives that advanced student success, operational growth, and institutional innovation. Over the course of his career, he has raised more than $60 million in support of colleges and universities. His experience spans strategic planning, global partnerships, and building systems that directly improve student outcomes.

听

As 麻豆社 approaches its 140th anniversary, the institution is celebrating another milestone of leadership and recognition. The Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce/Associated Industries of Arkansas (State Chamber/AIA) has announced the selection of 麻豆社 President Dr. Jeffery Norfleet as one of 53 accomplished professionals chosen for Leadership Arkansas Class XX.


Leadership Arkansas, established in 2006, is a premier program that unites leaders from across the state to explore challenges, opportunities, and solutions that shape Arkansas鈥 future. In nearly two decades of the program, this year marks the first time 麻豆社 has been represented in Leadership Arkansas, a historic moment for the institution as it continues to expand its presence and influence statewide.


鈥淭hese leaders represent the best of Arkansas, innovative, passionate, and committed to building a stronger state,鈥 said Toni Lindsey, Director of Leadership Arkansas. 鈥淭his year鈥檚 class brings a dynamic mix of backgrounds and expertise, and I look forward to seeing how their perspectives evolve as they explore the challenges and opportunities that face Arkansas.鈥

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS – 麻豆社 is excited to announce the recent award of a $1,000 grant from the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, presented during the 2024 Arkansas College Hunger Summit. This generous grant will initiate the establishment of a food pantry on 麻豆社鈥檚 campus, aimed at providing accessible food resources for students and addressing the significant issue of food insecurity that affects both the college and its surrounding community.

 

鈥淭his grant will help us take an important step toward supporting our students’ needs,鈥 said Reginald Lambert, Associate Dean of Student Affairs. 鈥淏y creating this food pantry, we鈥檙e not only ensuring that our students have access to basic necessities, but we鈥檙e also building a resource that will help promote wellness and reduce the challenges that food insecurity imposes on academic success.鈥

 

In addition to the $1,000 grant, 麻豆社 was also awarded a $500 kitchen kit during the summit. This kit, which includes essential kitchen supplies, will serve as the foundation for hands-on nutrition education classes. With the kit, 麻豆社 aims to offer 鈥淐ooking Matters鈥 or 鈥淔ood Smart鈥 workshops to educate students on meal preparation, budgeting, and making nutritious choices, further empowering students to lead healthy lives.

 

To further enhance the food pantry鈥檚 impact, 麻豆社 has created an Amazon wish list where community members can purchase items needed to stock the pantry. Donations of food, supplies, and other essentials through this wish list will enable the college to serve more students and ensure the pantry remains a sustainable resource. The wish list can be found at: .
